It’s been an exciting year for the Washington Hill Neighborhood Fire Coalition. We have removed a record amount of fuel, and many residents have made great efforts to harden their homes. New roofs, rock and hardscape, tree and brush removal, and clean gutters all go a long way toward reducing our risk. Over the last six years, five homes have been added to our neighborhood, all of which were built to Chapter 7A standards for fire resistance.
Our original map, which included over 200 residences, has been expanded to include 400 residences. Commercial businesses along East Main St. will now be included. With the assistance of a Registered Forester, Dario Davidson, a five-year risk assessment has been developed for our neighborhood. A set of goals will direct our activities from now through 2028. We are hopeful residents will spread the word to our new coalition members and encourage them to get involved.
Remember… we are all in this together!
